hill tribe trekking
Thailand:Chang Mai:Net Square, Th. Ratchadamnoen
cruised the night markets last night, wasn’t so impressed. they are geared for tourist with money to load up on cheap shit to cargo back home to their expensive standard of living. never saw so many french, spanish, german, italian hagglers in my life. everybody wants a deal…
had a beer chiang at the middle of it all, a big rock climbing wall with some thai showoff climbing up and down and old people oooh and ahhhh and clap. ridiculous. stuff is cheap here though, they have jewelry and hill tribe goodies and clothes, pharmacuticals….whatever. i wander but get bored, stop at this odd looking pancake stand and get a pancake thingy with chocolate and sugar for 10baht. it is amazing and i want to eat 10 more….
wake up today and like this place, changmai krist house so i get another day. the in house tourism lady, ahn, greets me and inquires about my trip. one thing leads to another and in 20 minutes she is arranging to get both my Laos and Vietnam visas, and talks me into a Hill Tribe trek tomorrow with 10 or so people. She is really sweet and I trust her immediately. I will pick up the Laos visa in Chiang Khong on thursday morning, the Vietnam visa I will pick up in Vientienne. Done deal. Hill tribe trek looks right on, will include rafting staying with the hill tribes and elephant riding. today i will check out chang mai….
