Coney F**king Island

and while the world waits for shiftyeye.com go come back online…

I recently came back from a vaction that entailed ME, Boston and NYC. Let me bore you about it, becuase that’s what I do…

Maine was for a wedding. The weather was nice. That’s about all I remember.
There also seem to be funny pictures of myself circulating about.

Boston was just a short day. Walked the freedom trail. I’m free. Nathan Hale. Had a conversation with an architect about the useful(less)ness of computers as tools. Perhaps computers are tools that have too much overhead to learn properly and as tools can’t compete really with a pencil and sketch pad? But then again there are other tools. And then again we could argue digital vs. analog for eons… Point being that computers don’t have a proper interface yet. The input is two dimensional, keyboard and mouse. I digress…

NYC was very hot. Stayed in Greenpoint, thanks Molly! Greenpoint is a predominantly Polish neighborhood adjacent to Williamsburg/Bedford in Brooklyn. I like the word Brooklyn. There is a company named Brooklyn Industries that makes handbags. I hereby name Williamsburg “Little Athens” due to the large numbers of bedheaded 20 something artists that inhabit the area. It’s funny in NY because you are so intimate with so many strangers on a daily basis, but still never speak to any. You could, you just don’t. Everyone is too cool.

Coney Fucking Island. The one reason to go to NY. Man, freaks freaks freaks.
It’s great. Get a hot dog or some fried clams. Ride the cyclone. We did, it kicks old school ass and may sprain your neck but it’s worth it. See the
freak show. It’s actually pretty good. Walk the boardwalk and watch the
break dancers and families catching crabs.
