A Song For You
Hey kids, my band, The Licentious Quintet, has recorded a song for the upcoming International Hits compilation. So have a listen to Rolling Tide, recorded in Mike Wright’s luxurious basement studio, complete with sound dividers pasted with Playboy centerfolds. Ahhh, the sweet life of Rock N’ Roll…
We will also be performing Saturday, May 8th, at the Art Farm in Cabbagetown, so reserve a spot on your calendar for this magnificent event. I believe it is the LAST THING EVER to happen at the Art Farm, where of course they grow art, and cabbages. You should be there. There will be lots of music, film and love, not to mention magic smoke. I just made that up. There may not be magic smoke. But most likely there will be some sort of smoke. More on the show later.

Sounds good my Brother! Not real “radio friendly” in terms of length but hey, fuck em’ if they can’t take a hit.
We just completed mixing the new Zerostars EP with my good friend Neal Ostrovsky, drummer of The Webb Brothers fame (Sons of Jimmy) http://www.webbbrothers.com/home.html at his studio b-side audio http://bsideaudio.com/ So going to be mastering shortly and should be released to critical acclaim by the end of May. Be on the look out at http://www.zerostars.com Oh, you can also see pictures of the endeavor there as well. http://www.zerostars.com/images.html
Yuh!

It will be a great event. You sound fantastic! In fact, it will be my Mother’s Day Celebration. Had a few questions…What time are you expected to go on? How long is the concert? And can you send directions? Was the first comment from John Munson? And one more thing, what is magic smoke? Oh, and how do you do the graphic while the music is playing?

Dude, I’m liberal and all that, but if you expect me to show up with your magic smoke to get you through the gig a) don’t tell EVERYONE I’ve agreed to set you up and b) come up with some better code word if your Mom is going to be posting on your blog! On the other hand, as it will be close to Mother’s Day, tell the ‘The Drummer’s Mom” if she is interested, I’ll magic smoke her out…..

is the song really that long? i always figured three and a half minutes (when fade out is added) was the standard pop song length. well, except for the ramones and gbv.
in any case, glad y’all are diggin on the sounds.

Hi Jody…yep it’s me in here hogging the drummer’s blog(second comment, not first). Hope you and Buck are doing well. Can’t believe you are grandparents! Take care and go easy on the magic smoke.

Who’s bong was it that ended up in the dishwasher because Mom thought it was a vase? True story. I can’t remember who, but I wouldn’t fess up…this is a very public site (googlebot is all-seeing).

The song is actually 4:08 in length. The perfect radio friendly length is 3:20. I’d like to see that come down to under three minutes but that’s just me.

yeah, 4 minutes is a bit long but once it’s been topped and tailed in mastering it should clock in at 3:40- 3:45. so we’ll be close
thanks

Eh, you’ll be cool. Like I said, if radio doesn’t want to play the tune because of length, fuck em’.
