Sturm und Drang Chili
Chili rules in the winter. It keeps long, and serves you lunch every day for a week.
Here’s my special recipe for Man Under Stress “Sturm and Drang” Chili:
One or two can crushed tomatoes (or about 1 carton of the
two cans beans, maybe three. mix it up, pinto red black
1lb or so beef (or vegetable soy crumble fake beef), I like to keep the beef “chunky” to have bigger pieces
half onion, half red pepper, half poblano pepper
chili powder, paprika, cinnamon
tablespoon chopped garlic
dump beans and tomato into pot, put on low heat
saute the beef, add peppers and onions about halfway through
dump into pot
when the the whole brew is steamy or bubbling add spices and minced or crushed garlic
don’t measure just add to taste. know thyself.
chili powder is the key to the taste here, add a lot of it for rich chili
less of the paprika
just a dash or two of the cinnamon (or cardamom if you want)
adjust to taste, if it doesn’t taste like chili add more chili powder!
thin out with tomato juice as needed (especially when reheating)
let simmer for 2hrs or so
that shit is good
